I know the Sabres don't really need defenseman but I would gladly take Tallinder back on this team.

I wouldn't trade Greene. He's under 30, on a good contract and is one of the better defenseman on the team. Tallinder's pretty steady, but he's getting up there. Devils need youth.

I can see us trading Greene but I really don't want to. I know the team is deep in left handed d but he plays so soundly. Greene and fayne are a great combo together but Greene looks to be the odd man out.

I wonder how Urbom will work out this time around. I'm really excited to see if Gelinas will make the team.

Is Merrill staying another year at Michigan?

Gelinas > Urbom.

I know a lot of people think highly of Urbom but he looked horrible in NJ and even worse in Albany. He's a big solid kid, but he will be a bust.

Gelinas could make this team out of camp if someone is moved by then, but as I already said, I expect Lou to stand pat.

Defensemen take a lot longer than forwards, I think Lou overhyped him when he said he was our best prospect and people thought too highly of him.

You guys hear the Kovy to KHL rumor? It's complicated but viable:

Semin signs in NHL for market value or leaves for KHL.

Kovy wants Semin to replace Parise. If Semin goes to KHL Kovy will request a trade.

Kovalev has been trying to lure Semin and Kovy to play for Locomotiv.

If Kovy play in KHL it will be for Locomotiv with Kovalev. Semin has offer from another KHL team as well.

Well Semin got an offer from the KHL for 3 years 30 million 10 per season, He isn't going to get that here but he is using it to drive up his price and although his agent has stated he would like to remain in the NHL. My guess is teams are offering 5.5 to 6 per season and short term because of his production drop last season. My opinion the Devils need him, if he signs elsewhere that doesn't leave us with many options. We have roughly 15 million in cap space. Id say match what he was getting 6.7 or even 7 for 5-7 seasons we can afford it and you can't put a price on the chemistry he could produce with Kovalchuk. Even at 7 that leaves 8 million. Can still re-sign Sykora to lets say 1.5 we now have 6.5 in cap space. You trade Tallinder and Tedenby and maybe a pick to Montreal for Brian Gionta. He has a 5 million tag but once subtract Tallinder and Tedenbys salary you would still have roughly 5 million plus in cap space, and you would have Semin, Gionta and Sykora. Just saying..

Absurd Kovalchuk isn't going back to Russia he hasn't won a Stanley Cup yet and his family has been patiently waiting for almost 3 years to move into his MEGA mansion in Alpine NJ that he has been having built since he signed in NJ, and Semin has stated he wants to stay in the NHL

Yeah don't really like that at all. Looks like Scott Stevens might be getting a call from the big club.

Why is everyone so set on getting Brian Gionta?

Man, people just love leaving the Devils these days. It's like the NHL's equivalent of taking their talents to South Beach. Taking their talents away from the Jersey Shore, if you will.
(for the record, I know I'm being a jackass but I don't care)
